A settlement has been reached in the Allen Iverson divorce case. The divorce proceedings have dragged on for the last three years, and now Tawanna Iverson is getting her money. Iverson has to give his soon to be ex-wife $3 million in a lump sum. She will get child support for their five children, and she will get a percentage of his Reebok shoe
company holdings. Iverson will keep his personal belongings, his Georgia mansion and his Maybach car. The two married in 2001 and during that time their marriage has been filled with infidelity, hidden money and restraining orders.

WDAS Morning Man Steve Harvey will host the The 44th Annual NAACP Image Awards Friday, February 1st on NBC. Steve's wildly successful Think Like A Man got a nomination for Best Supporting Actress (Taraji P. Henson). Actress Kerry Washington of the TV drama Scandal will be getting the President's Award that night. The movies Flight, Django Unchained, Beasts Of The Southern Wild, Red Tails and Good Deeds have all been nominated for Best Picture.  Jamie Foxx and Denzel Washington got nominations as well as the reality show X-Factor. The hit ABC's Scandal got nominations as well as the Lifetime TV movie Steel Magnolias with Queen Latifah and Jill Scott. Alicia Keys and Bruno Mars led the way with the music nominations. Trombonist Jeff Bradshaw got a nomination for Best Jazz Album for his latest CD Bone Appetit. Local Author Jim Smith, Jr. (Mr. Energy) got a literature nod for his book The No Excuse Guide To Success No Matter What Your Boss Or Life Throws At You.

NeNe Leakes in on a roll. She is the star of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta, co starring on the NBC show The New Normal, and she is making money. After 13 years of marriage, she and her hubby Greg hit a rough patch and announced plans to divorce. But now, after a trial separation, the two have reunited. Is her hubby Greg reuniting just
because he sees dollars signs. Greg Leakes has been having financial problems for a while. He most recently owed the I.R.S. $45,000. Bills! Bills! Bills!

Boyz II Men is setting up shop in Las Vegas. Starting in March, they will be doing a series of weekend concerts for the rest of the year at the Mirage Casino. The Philadelphia natives just celebrated their 20th year as a group, and are also going on The Package Tour with New Kids On The Block and 98 Degrees. They are doing a show June 15th at The Wells Fargo Center.

Alicia Keys will be singing the national anthem as this year's Superbowl Sunday, February 3rd between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. Beyonce is performing at halftime and will reunite with her  Destiny's Child Bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. The big game, Superbowl XLVII (47), is happening in New Orleans.

Speaking of Beyonce! She’s also producing a documentary about her life that will air on HBO February 16th, and she has just signed on as the new spokesperson for Pepsi. The $50 million Pepsi deal includes Beyonce's picture on Pepsi cans with the soda giant sponsoring all her major events. She’s also going to be the cover girl for the March issue of Vogue magazine and for the new issue of GQ magazine. 

The Beyonce Blitz is on, even thought she caught a lot of flak for lip synched performance of the national anthem at the President Obama's inauguration. This is a practice that is well known and a lot of singers do it. The national anthem is too important a song to mess up in front of millions. Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin sang live at
President Obama's first inauguration, but defended Beyonce because of the weather and wanting the song to be just right.

In more Beyonce news, her dad Mathew Knowles is making headlines with his ex-mistress and  babymomma. Alexsandra Wright has a two-year son by Knowles, and she gets $12,000 a month in child support. Wright says Knowles has threatened her, and she needs more money from him to hire security. Knowles' baby outside of his marriage to Tina Knowles destroyed and ended his marriage, and he is very bitter about it. Not only did he lose his marriage, but Beyonce dropped him as her manager. Knowles doesn’t have the money he used to get, so Wright
may not be able to get her hands on more cash.

Cissy Houston will be sitting down with Oprah Winfrey as she marks the one year anniversary of the death of her daughter Whitney Houston. Cissy will be talking about her new book, which details the life she had with Whitney. Cissy will be Oprah's guest on Next Chapter in early February. In more OWN news, the next few months will see Actress/Comedienne Kim Whitley debuting her new show about raising a baby.

Singers Chante Moore and Kelly Price are joining the cast of TV One’s R&B Divas LA, which is a spinoff from from the original R&B Divas reality show. Moore and Price are also appearing as part of the Soulful Sista's Tour.

The 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will air on HBO May 18th. This year's inductees include Donna Summer, Public Enemy, Heart, Rush, and special honors going to Quincy Jones and Producer Lou Adler. Summer, whose induction her fans had long called for, died in May from lung cancer. Jennifer Hudson and Christina Aguilera will be performing in the Donna Summer tribute.

Prince is going to be the big honoree at this year's 2013 Billboard Music Awards. The show airs May 19th
on ABC.

The UNCF Evening Of Stars will air on BET this Sunday, January 27th and will hosted by Anthony Anderson. Chaka Khan, Wayne Brady, Eric Benet, Tracee Ellis Ross, Keenen Ivory Wayans and Charlie Wilson will also be appearing. Speaking of “Uncle Charlie,” I had a chance to talk with him this week and he's very excited about his new CD, Love Charlie, arriving in stores January 29th.

The 2013 Essence Music Festival is happening July 4-7 in New Orleans. Jill Scott, Keyshia Cole, New Edition, Brandy, LL Cool J, Mint Condition,“Uncle Charlie” Wilson and Maxwell are schedule to perform this year.

Speaking of Maxwell, he is hard at work on his fifth CD. He plans on releasing the second installment of his Black Summers Night trilogy series later this year. Last summer, he had to cancel his tour when he suffered vocal swelling and hemorrhaging.

Mike Tyson is coming to Law & Order: SUV. Tyson is no stranger to acting. The former heavyweight champ appeared in the The Hangover and its sequel. Now he'll play a death row murderer on SVU.

The new season for Dancing With The Stars kicks off March 18th.

Morris Chestnut will be teaming up with Oscar Winner Halle Berry in the thriller The Call. Jennifer Hudson's fiance David Otunga is also featured in the movie. The Call opens March 15th in theaters.

Filming has begun on a new Tyler Perry-Madea movie. A Madea Christmas could be in theaters for this coming Christmas holiday season. Perry is using a more diversified cast on this movie, including Lisa Whelchel
(“Blair Warner” from TV's Facts Of Life) and Comedian and country Artist Larry The Cable Guy.

Speaking of Tyler, just in time for the Easter holiday 2013, it’s his latest big screen project. Temptation: Confessions Of A Marriage Counselor stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Lance Gross, Vanessa Williams, Brandy and
Kim Kardashian. The movie opens March 29
th. Perry also has two new shows debuting on OWN. It's part of his
exclusive deal with Oprah Winfrey's cable network. The Haves And Have Nots is a drama about a family and their housekeeper, and Love Thy Neighbor is a sitcom set in a diner. Now speaking of Jurnee Smollett-Bell, in addition to starring in Perry's movie Temptation, she has signed on to join the cast of HBO’s True Blood, which returns in June.

Congrats to former WDAS intern and NBC’s Tamron Hall. Hall is the host of News Nation, plus she is a national correspondent for The Today Show and she anchors on MSNBC. Hall is getting a new show called Deadline Crime with Tamron Hall. It’s a 13-part series that will start airing in the fall on the Investigation Discovery Channel.

Longtime ESPN Sports Anchor Stuart Scott is battling cancer again. The 47-year old Scott was first diagnosed in 2007 then again in 2011. He tweeted to his supporters that he'll continue to fight and continue to work. Scott thanked the fans for their prayers.

The 85th Annual Academy Awards take place Sunday, February 24th. The Steven Spielberg movie Lincoln is leading the nominations with Best Director Spielberg, Best Actor Daniel Day Lewis and Best Picture. Also up for awards: Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, Denzel Washington got a nod for Flight and Quvenzhane Wallis. At age nine, Wallis is the youngest Best Actress nominee and youngest African American nominee ever.

Singer Keith Sweat is now an author. Sweat, the host of WDAS' overnight show The Sweat Hotel, has a new book coming out on February 12th called Make It Last Forever: The Do’s And Don’t's Of Relationships. So what makes Sweat an expert? He says he’s had girlfriends, been married, been divorced, he’s cheated, been cheated on, been in love and had true love. He says he has seen it all and wants to help others in their relationships.

Dr. Ian Smith is back with another weight loss book. Smith, the author of the Fat Smash Diet and 50 Million Pound Challenge, is back with Shred: The Revolutionary Diet. Dr. Smith says in six weeks you can lose 4 inches and go down two dress sizes. He says his plan will not leave you hungry.

Get ready for the return of the Braxton Family Values. Season three kicks off in March on WE TV.

The Lifetime movie Betty And Coretta starring Mary J. Blige and Angela Bassett will air on the Lifetime network on Saturday, February 2nd. Blige will play Dr. Betty Shabazz and Bassett will play Coretta Scott
King. The movie will follow the lives of the famous widows of Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Lifetime is rolling out a lot of movies in February: There's Toni Braxton and Mykelti Williamson in Twist Of Fate airing Saturday, February 9th. Then Saturday, February 16th Pastor Brown starring Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Ernie Hudson, Tisha Martin Campbell, Nicole Ari Parker and Rockmond Dunbar.

Actor Ving Rhames has joined the cast of the medical drama Monday Mornings. The show is produced by David E. Kelly (Chicago Hope, Ally McBeal, Pickett Fences) and CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Monday Mornings debuts February 4th
on the TNT cable network.

Tami Roman, David Keith, Ella Joyce and Elise Neal will be starring in the TV One show Belle's. The show about a family running a soul food business, and it debuts February 1st.

Iyanla Van Zant is on the cover of the latest issue of Essence magazine.

Ebony magazine is celebrating Black Love with a triple cover featuring Meagan Good (Deception) & her husband Film Exec DeVon Franklin, Bishop TD Jakes & his wife Serita and Tiny & T.I.

Wendy Williams is releasing a new book of advice called Ask Wendy. The book comes out May 7th.

Halle Berry, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle and Bishop TD Jakes are going to be honored at the 2013 BET Honors. Gabrielle Union returns as host, and the show airs on BET February 11th. Performers include Ledisi, Alicia Keys, Brandy, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, The S.O.S. Band and Erykah Badu.

On Monday, March 18th, Latin Singing Sensation Shakira, who just gave birth to her first child (son Milan), will join the lineup of NBC's singing reality show The Voice along with Usher. They'll join Judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Usher will also be starring in the movie Hands Of Stone, about the life of Boxing Great Sugar Ray Leonard.

Look for Denzel Washington to return to Broadway in the spring of 2014. I hear it could be in a revival of A Raisin In The Sun.

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards are happening February 10th on CBS. Nominees include Melanie Fiona, Frank Ocean, Anthony Hamilton, R Kelly, Miguel, Rihanna, Dave Koz, Estelle, Usher, Anita Baker, SWV, Tamia, Beyonce, Tyrese and John Legend.


 

Get ready for the Smiths! Will Smith reunites with his son Jaden on the big screen for the M. Night Shyamalan movie After Earth. The movie opens in theaters next June.

After 30 years, Actress Cicely Tyson is returning to Broadway. She makes her return next April in the production The Trip To Bountiful. Tyson plays an elderly woman who returns to her small Texas town. Vanessa Williams and Cuba Gooding, Jr. have also been added to the cast.

Actress Regina King is going to be all over your TV in 2013. Season five of her TNT drama Southland returns February 13th, and she is joining the cast of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

Kimora Lee Simmons has a new show launching on the Style network called Kimora's House Of Fab.

The R&B Music Hall Of Fame will launch new inductees May 5th 2013. New Inductees include Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, The Supremes, The Miracles and Ray Charles.
