Is Jesse Jackson Jr. going to jail? Jackson signed a plea deal regarding misuse of campaign funds. Three months ago, he resigned from Congress after going AWOL following his diagnosis of bi-polar disorder and gastro issues. Jr. has to repay the government hundreds of thousands of dollars. The former Congressman reportedly spent money on a $40,000 Rolex watch and travel expenses for a woman who was not his wife. He also purchased furniture for a home in D.C.. Jr.'s wife is also in trouble. Sandra Jackson reportedly misused campaign funds, and she stepped down from her position as a Chicago alderwoman. Sources say Jr. took the plea and will do jail time to spare his wife and the mother of his children the pain of going to jail.
Will Bobbi Kris take the advice of her grandmother Cissy Houston and seek psychiatric help? Bobbi Kris is at odds with her grandmother since Cissy wrote a book about Bobbi's mom Whitney Houston. Cissy says Bobbi Kris needs psychiatric help because she is still in mourning over her mother. Cissy needs the money, and that’s why she wrote a book about her relationship with her troubled daughter. When Whitney died, she left all her money to her daughter Bobbi Kris. At the rate Bobbi Kris is going, she is not trying to share her money with her grandmother.
What's in store for Essence magazine? Their Editor-In-Chief Constance White is out amid numerous layoffs at the legendary magazine. White was in her post at Essence for the past two years. For the past several years, the magazine has undergone several top changes in management and direction. Now with the layoffs, what does it mean for the future of Essence?
Muhammad Ali’s brother Rahman is claiming he has been cut off from his famous brother. Ali, 71, is battling Parkinson's disease, and he is being cared for by Lonnie, his wife of 26 years. Rahman claims he needs to see his brother who used to take care of him during Ali's days of fame and fortune. Rahman says when his brother passes, no one will get anything. Rahman says Lonnie makes money off of Ali's appearances and shuts everyone else out. Ali’s daughter Laila says her dad is doing well and everything is fine. Rahman feels left out. It’s probably because he needs money and can’t get it from his brother anymore.
What does the future hold for Allen Iverson? Is the former NBA superstar going broke since his recent divorce Tawanna Iverson. Iverson's gambling and drinking have been out of control for a while. The $50 million Pepsi deal includes Beyonce's picture on Pepsi cans with the soda giant sponsoring all her major events. She’s the cover girl for the March issue of Vogue and G.Q. magazines. Beyonce is also launching The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. She'll be in
Philly July 25th at the Wells Fargo Center and at The Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on July 26th.
In more Beyonce news, she has just confirmed her return to 2013 Essence Festival July 4th -7th. She'll take her Mrs. Carter show to New Orleans and the Essence main stage. This month's Essence coverguy, LL Cool J, is also on the bill along with Trey Songz, Jill Scott, Keyshia Cole, New Edition, Brandy, Mint Condition, Tamia, “Uncle Charlie” Wilson, Solange Knowles and Maxwell.
WDAS' Steve Harvey, who will also be at the Essence Festival, is coming to The Today Show. Harvey will be co-hosting the 8 and 9am hours on Monday, February 18th. In more Steve news, his Hoodie Awards now has a new name. It's now called The Neighborhood Awards and tickets are now on sale. The Neighborhood Awards are happening August 8th -11th in Las Vegas.

Robin Roberts is set to return to Good Morning America on Wednesday, February 20th. Robert underwent a successful bone marrow transplant a few months ago, and she got cleared by her doctors to return to work.
We remember Jazz Great and Trumpeter Dr. Donald Byrd. Byrd died on the February 4th at the age of 80. He had some great solo hits including Places And Spaces and Dominoes. Byrd's album, Black Byrd, held a long time record as Blue Note Records' biggest selling album. He was also a teacher of music holding professorships at Rutgers, Hampton University, New York University, Howard, Cornell University and Delaware State. Byrd took those teaching skills and formed the group The Blackbyrds in 1973 with some of his best protegees from his Howard University teaching days. The Blackbyrds had the hits Walking In Rhythm, Happy Music, Soft & Easy and Rock Creek Park. Byrd
worked with legends ranging from John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey and even hired an up and coming keyboardist named Herbie Hancock. Byrd's career spanned six decades across pop, jazz and R&B spectrum.
We also remember world renowned Conductor/Educator James DePriest, who died from complications of a heart attack suffered last spring. The Philly-born music trailblazer was the nephew of Marian Anderson. Despite contracting polio, DePriest's international career placed him as a first among African American classical music arrangers and conductors. President George W. Bush awarded him the National Medal Of Arts in 2005. Two of DePriest's best known career highs are: conducting The Oregon Symphony Orchestra for 23 years, and, at the request of his high school friend Bill Cosby, arranging and conducting the fifth season classical theme music to The Cosby Show. DePriest was 76.
As she celebrates 40 years in the music business, Chaka Khan is coming out with a line of chocolates and candles. All proceeds will benefit The Chaka Khan Foundation which supports women and children in crisis. The legendary songstress turns 60 next month.

The book is geared towards women. The book Manology is a guide to regaining relationship confidence and weeding out cheaters.
Actor Blair Underwood is coming back to TV. Underwood is filming a pilot based on the old school, TV classic Ironside. After he wrapped his 50's classic Perry Mason, Actor Raymond Burr made a comeback with the popular police drama as “Chief Robert Ironside.” from 1967-1975. Quincy Jones did the theme song for the original show. Burr played a veteran detective confined to a wheelchair after being shot by a sniper. Underwood will recreate that role.
The NBA All-Star Weekend is set for the February 17th in Houston, Texas. Alicia Keys is performing at halftime. John Legend is singing the national anthem.

Oprah Winfrey, Gabrielle Union, Alfre Woodard, Writer/Producer Mara Brock Akil (The Game, Jumping The Broom) will be amongst the honorees at Essence magazine's 6th Annual Black Women In Hollywood event on February 21st.
Quvenzhane Wallis is Jet magazine's covergirl this week. At age nine, Wallis is the youngest Best Actress nominee and youngest African American nominee ever for Beasts Of The Southern Wild. I also hear she is a leading contender to replace Willow Smith in the big screen remake of Annie.
The 85th Annual Academy Awards take place Sunday, February 24th, and the talent is going to be amazing that night. For the first time in 36 years, Barbara Streisand will be performing. She last performed her hit Evergreen on the show in 1977 and won the Oscar for the song that night. Another Diva will be there to match Streisand that night. Dame Shirley Bassey will also be be performing at this year's Oscars. The 76- year old British singer sang the themes for the James Bond movies Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker. Other Oscar performers include Singers Adele and Norah Jones. The Steven Spielberg movie Lincoln is leading the nominations with Best Director
Spielberg, Best Actor Daniel Day Lewis and Best Picture. Also up for awards: Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook, Denzel Washington got a nod for Flight and Quvenzhane Wallis. Previous Oscar Winner Halle Berry has just been announced as a presenter.

Singers Chante Moore, Kelly Price, Dawn Robinson (En Vogue), Michel'le, Lil' Mo, Claudette Ortiz (City High) are joining the cast of TV One’s R&B Divas L.A., which is a spinoff from from the original R&B
Divas reality show. Moore and Price are also appearing as part of the Soulful Sista's Tour. Singers Angie Stone and La Tocha Scott (Xscape) are joining the Atlanta version of R&B Divas. The new season starts in April.
The 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will air on HBO May 18th. This year's inductees include Donna Summer, Public Enemy, Heart, Rush, and special honors going to Quincy Jones and Producer Lou
Adler. Summer, whose induction her fans had long called for, died in May from lung cancer. Jennifer Hudson and Christina Aguilera will be performing in the Donna Summer tribute.
Prince is going to be the big honoree at this year's 2013 Billboard Music Awards. The show airs May 19th
on ABC.
The new season for Dancing With The Stars kicks off March 18th.
Tyler Perry will be back just in time for the Easter holiday 2013, with his latest big screen project. Temptation: Confessions Of A Marriage Counselor stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Lance Gross, Vanessa Williams,
Brandy and Kim Kardashian. The movie opens March 29th. Perry also has two new shows debuting on OWN. It's part of his exclusive deal with Oprah Winfrey's cable network. The Haves And Have Nots is a drama about a family and their housekeeper, and Love Thy Neighbor is a sitcom set in a diner. Now speaking of Jurnee Smollett-Bell, in addition to starring in Perry's movie Temptation, she has signed on to join the cast of HBO’s True Blood, which returns in June.
